Fairfield's 2023 spring season is hanging on by a thread after another week of action in the IHSAA state tournaments.

Boys golf soldiers on, but barely, after finishing third at the Northridge Sectional on Friday. Playing at its home course at Meadow Valley, Fairfield couldn't keep pace with fellow course dweller Northridge, the Raiders the champions for the third straight year after a 321. Westview were second at 324, boasting of Silas Harrar's course record round of 66. Fairfield then checked in at 328 to grab the third spot for team regional qualification.

Fairfield's Brayden Miller tied Lakeland's Ben Keil for second overall in the tournament with matching 70s, only behind Harrar's magnificent round of 66.

Helping the Falcons to the Warsaw Regional this coming Thursday were Carter Kitson with an 82, Miles Nine and Andrew Miller with 88s, and Jasper Carl was the fifth score at 94.

The top three teams and top two individuals from the regional round will advance to the IHSAA State Finals in Carmel on June 13-14.

Playing as an individual in the IHSAA Girls Tennis Regional was Fairfield junior Addison Mast, who was riding an undefeated season to the steps of the state finals.

Mast came in 23-0 and took on Michigan City's Sahara Joyce Saturday morning and won in straight sets to reach the regional final. There, she took on Whiting's Sasha Adams, who was also undefeated at 27-0. Mast's season would come to an end to the Whiting senior, Mast finishing her junior season 24-1 overall.
