Final week of the school year, and with it, more end-of-the-year results.

Boys track closed up shop after Thursday’s Warsaw Regional, three athletes working in K-County.
Nick Hofer and Ethan Hochstetler both threw in discus, Hofer landing seventh at 140-1 and Hochstetler 13th at 127-3. Marco Garcia also ran in the preliminaries of the 100 dash, placing ninth at 11.42.

A two-run homer by Jayslynn Hall helped Fairfield rally for a 7-5 win over Wawasee in the NorthWood Softball Sectional opener Monday night. Hall’s homer came in the sixth down a run, a bomb to straightaway left. Breah Gill added an RBI and Kenlee Gall had two hits and two runs scored.
Hall again brought the big stick, hitting two more bombs Wednesday in Fairfield’s 9-0 win over Lakeland. Hall drove in four in the contest, and saw teammates Ava Bontrager triple and Amelia Black double and drive in two. Faith Berkey scattered four hits in the shutout in the circle.
In Friday’s championship game, East Noble mashed five homers to overwhelm Fairfield, 9-4. Makenna Steele had a two-run single, Ava Bontrager tripled in a run and Black reached base twice and scored a run in the trio’s final game in the blue and gold.
Fairfield concludes its season 17-15 overall.
Additionally, four Falcons were named All-NECC on Friday. Steele, Black and Bailey Willard were named First Team while Hall was named Honorable Mention.

Addison Mast’s individual tennis season is still going. She opened the individual sectional with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Elkhart’s Adley Keim on Wednesday, then pushed past Lakewood Park’s Lauren Korte, 6-1, 6-0 to move to 23-0 on the season and a spot in the LaPorte Regional on June 3. In the opening round she will face Michigan City’s Sahara Joyce (8-9), the winner to take on either Sasha Adams of Whiting (19-0) or Elaina Franz of LaVille in the regional championship match.

A pair of baseball games to end the regular season. On Monday, Alec Hershberger tossed a complete game, two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Fairfield dimed Bethany 11-0. Cohen Yoder had two doubles and four RBIs and Sawyer Ernsberger also drove in four.
Tuesday evening the Elkhart Lions ended Fairfield’s 12-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory. Eli Miller had the lone RBI for the Falcons.
Fairfield advanced to this Monday's sectional championship by pulling away from NorthWood, 14-2, in Saturday’s semi-final at NorthWood. Leading by just three heading to the fifth, Fairfield erupted in the final three innings to reach the final. Landon Miller had two doubles and four RBIs, Eli Miller homered and scored four runs, Keegan Miller drove in three and Alec Hershberger struck out nine over six innings of work on the hill.

The JV concluded its season Monday evening as the Falcons thumped host South Bend Riley, 18-4.

Fairfield golf continued to play well down the stretch, beating Goshen 168-175 at Black Squirrel Tuesday evening. Miles Nine was the medalist with a 39, highlighted by an eagle on the ninth hole. The JV also came through with a win at the Squirrel, topping Goshen 198-205.

Junior high golf wrapped up its season on May 19 with a match at Black Squirrel against Goshen. Fairfield used a personal best 52 from Tyler Pequignot to shoot a 210 to better Goshen’s 224.
