Boys golf are off on a good foot, particularly 2023 state finalist Brayden Miller, who shot a two-under 34 to lead Fairfield (165) to a pair of wins over Elkhart (177) and Concord (208) last Tuesday. Jasper Carl turned in a 42, Miles Nine a 44 and Jake Elliott a 45 to complete the Fairfield scoring in the trio at Meadow Valley.

Fairfield would stand tall as champions of Saturday’s Goshen Invite, shooting a 337 to win the field, two strokes clear of runner-up Northridge.

Brayden Miller was one under on the front nine and finished an even 72 for the tournament to win medalist honors, four strokes clear of runner-up Luke Haarer of Westview (76) and third-placer Steve Webb of Elkhart (78).

Fairfield used an 86 from Carl, 89 from Elliott and 90 from Nine to make up its championship score. Ben Kio chipped in a fifth-man 93.

In a pair of baseball games that wrapped the end of Spring Break week, Fairfield hosted Elkhart on Friday and visited South Central Union Mills on Saturday, April 5-6.

Fairfield brought the tying run to the plate against Elkhart, but a lineup ended what was a six-run rally for Fairfield in a 10-8 loss to the Lions. Fairfield trailed by as many as 10 runs in the contest. Garrett Stoltzfus had a pair of RBIs for the Falcons.

Landon Miller struck out seven on the hill to lead the Falcons to a 7-0 win at South Central. Eli Miller had three RBIs in the roadie.

Fairfield broke a one-all tie with an eight-run fourth inning to pick up an 11-1 NECC win over Churubusco Tuesday night. Michael Slabaugh and Sawyer Ernsberger both tripled in the huge inning and combined to drive in five runs. Landon Miller allowed just two Eagles hits and fanned nine in the complete game on the hill. Of note in the JV game against Busco, Grady Garber pitched a perfect game, striking out 11 in a 7-0 Falcons win. Landon Beasy added two hits and an RBI to pace the junior squad.

Owen Garrison went the distance Wednesday, holding Angola to one earned run in a 9-2 Fairfield win. Garrison struck out 10 Hornets in the second NECC win in as many days. Hunter Kauffman and Luke Mast each drove in a pair and Landon Miller smacked a solo homer. Logan Miller worked four innings on the hill to get the win for Fairfield in a 12-5 win over Angola in the JV contest. Matthew Senn and Avery Christner combined for five RBIs in the win.

NorthWood got the best of Fairfield Friday night in a 9-2 Panther win. Eli Miller had an RBI double, but the Falcons couldn’t make up for a four-run NorthWood sixth inning. The JV Falcons won their Friday contest, 12-0. Beasy and Andrew Matthews each tripled and combined to drive in four to lead the hosts.

Back in NECC play Saturday, Fairfield shut out Central Noble, 10-0. Landon Miller tossed a two-hitter, striking out seven. Cohen Yoder doubled, tripled, and drove in three. Slabaugh added a homer in the win. The Falcon JV crushed the Cougars, 18-1. Garber had two doubles and Christner tripled and drove in three.

Tennis hosted NorthWood Tuesday in what has become an annual meter stick match for the two clubs. Addie Mast shut out Britton Jesse at one singles, but Fairfield managed just one other court win in a 3-2 loss to the Panthers. Teammates Eva Herbert and Lacy Stoltzfus had to rally in the third set to put away Maddy Birk and Maggie Steiner, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to the other Fairfield win at two doubles.

Taylor Schreck and Allie Stahly lost in singles play while Amanda McGuire and Elise Schwartz took a loss in one doubles action. JV action had one Fairfield win from doubles partners Abby Piasecki and Abigail Graber.

McGuire and Schwartz returned to take honors at one doubles at Saturday’s Plymouth Invite, topping seven other teams in the court bracket. Mast was second at one singles to highlight Fairfield, which finished fourth overall in the team standings. Crown Point (34) edged Plymouth (31) for the team title, winning all three singles courts.

Fairfield opened its softball week with a 5-4 loss to Wawasee, the Warriors plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to take it. Jayslynn Hall had a two-run triple and Madison Jones had an RBI and two runs scored for the Lady Falcons. Jones would go 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three stolen bases as Fairfield held on for a 7-5 win over Busco Tuesday night. Adelyn Holsopple smacked a bases loaded triple as part of a five-run third for the Lady Falcons. Faith Berkey didn’t walk a batter in the complete-game win against the Eagles.

A six-run fourth inning pushed Jimtown past Fairfield, 12-2, in softball at Fairfield Friday night. Jones and Lilly Yoder each scored Fairfield’s runs against the Jimmies.

Jimtown’s JV also used big innings to push past Fairfield, 11-6, in a three-inning contest. Gisele Lopez had a double and two RBI for the Lady Falcons.

Saturday morning Fairfield blitzed neighboring Goshen, 13-1, in five innings. Holsopple scored three runs, Hall had an RBI triple and Preslee Caouette drove in three for the victorious Falcons. Berkey held the RedHawks to just three hits and struck out eight while walking none in the complete-game win.

Track held its first home meet of the season Tuesday, and pulled a double as the girls knocked off Central Noble, 91-41, and boys did the same, 86-45.

Madelyn Culp led the Lady Falcons with four individual wins, Culp winning both hurdles events (17.29 and 52.96) to go with long jump (15-09.5) and high jump (5-2) firsts. Natalee Lambright ran a total of four miles at the meet, winning both the mile (5:49.41) and two-mile (13:31.85) and took the 800 (2:39.41) all following the opening 4x8 relay leg, which Fairfield won at 11:09.88. Emma Walter doubled the speed events, taking the 100 (13.05) and 200 (27.92).

Evan Correll was the distance demon for the boys side, winning the mile (4:57.81) and the two-mile (10:38.63). Caleb Silliman added a pair of wins in the 110 hurdles (18.03) and the pole vault (11-0) while Brock Dunlap and Nick Hofer captured wins in throws, Dunlap in disc at 134-7.5 and Hofer in shot at 47-1.
