Details on the flier for the Fairfield Color Guard Summer Camp!

Wednesday morning Millersburg second graders performed the play Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock, inspired by the book written by Eric Kimmel.
The second graders depicted a story of deception and the moral character associated with some of the bad choices told in the African folk tale.
Students portrayed several jungle animals that were featured in the Anansi book they read this year.

Fairfield High School was the host for a special party Tuesday morning as Rebecca Tarman was celebrated for her upcoming retirement.
Tarman is a 31-year teaching veteran, her first nine years at Syracuse Elementary and the last 23 with Fairfield Community Schools.
The celebration was put together by Stacey Mehlberg and Wendi Sparks, both close friends and teachers at Fairfield Jr/Sr High School. Tarman had a cake and was also joined by the FHS Life Skills students to add to the celebration.
Congratulations to Tarman on a fantastic teaching career and well wishes into her retirement!

New Paris sixth graders were stuck to this project!
The sixth graders participated in squid dissections today! This event was a culmination of their learning and work in science this year. It was a first for the New Paris students and the kids were very excited for the unique learning opportunity.

We shared a post yesterday celebrating a state champion in Joya Holsopple at the Indiana State Middle School Track Championships in Terre Haute. Here's a little more depth on the event, and some additional Fairfield successes from the meet.
Holsopple cleared 10-0 to win the title, with teammates Shelby Miller (9-3) in third and Neila Rumfelt (8-0) in eighth.
Also representing Fairfield on the medal stand were the boys distance medley relay team of Wyatt Mast, Oakley Stichter, Caden Harris and Landon Russell, which placed third overall at 12:40.82.
The mixed 4x400 relay team of Mast, Stichter, Madison Jones and Eliana Yoder were fifth overall with a time of 4:22.82.

The Millersburg Middle School eighth grade gave a preview of their Business Expo exhibits today. From product development and product pitching, to designing logos, business cards, and websites; from market research, to prototypes, product sales, and profit loss statements, it was all covered! Even job applications, these kids did it all.
Their hard work paid off as they used the profits to pay for their eighth grade trip to Louisville (see our post from yesterday). They will be sharing all they learned at their Business Expo tomorrow (Saturday), from 9 a.m. to noon in the MEMS gymnasium.

Another NECC trophy has been claimed by Fairfield!
The baseball team finished out a perfect 10-0 run through the conference after a come-from-behind 8-4 win over West Noble Thursday night. Trailing 4-1 in the fifth, Fairfield used a two-out rally that had six unearned runs come in.
Landon Miller was the hero on the mound, striking out 12 in relief while Sawyer Ernsberger had a huge two-out hit during Fairfield's rally.
The team earns its first outright conference title since 2013 and hits the 20-win mark for the season.

On Wednesday, May 24, Fairfield Building Trades will be hosting an open house event for anyone interested in viewing the 2022-23 Building Trades project home.
The location is north of Fairfield Jr/Sr High School located at 15670 CR 42, Goshen, IN, 46528, situated to the left of the gravel lane off of CR 42. The Open House will be from 3-6 p.m.
This year's 1500 sq. ft. home was constructed for Wayne and Zoe Stanger. It is a two-bed, two-bathroom ranch-style home. The features include walk in showers, attached garage, cathedral ceiling, radiant floor heating and cedar accented front porch.

Ryan LeCount's US Government classes at Fairfield Jr/Sr High School were part of a unique experience regarding elections and the voting process. Actual voting machines were brought into the library at FJSHS, and members of the classes formulated election "campaigns" to garner voting momentum for their peers in casting votes. Election outreach coordinators from the county were brought in to help with the process, which directly gave the students a mock voting experience.

The Millersburg eighth grade class spent three fun-packed days in Louisville for their class trip. Their trip was funded by money they earned through their Business Experience class. Among the places the students visited or experienced included Churchill Downs, The Louisville Slugger Museum, Mammoth Cave, a riverboat ride and GoKart racing.

Everyone wants a voice in the world, it's just a matter of how you speak. And for some, speaking is a little more difficult. Fairfield recognizes that by employing speech pathologists, like Faith Mahony shown here with her students at New Paris Elementary. Hers and others' work with our students help put our kids on the right track to have a say in this awesome world we live in.
Thank you to those who serve our students as we recognize National Speech Pathologist's Day!

Jill Anderson's veterinary class at Fairfield ventured to a local breeding facility to assist with annual exams and vaccinations. The onsite opportunity furthers what the students are already learning within the classroom during the year, and a nice way to punctuate the end of the year.
Special thanks to Anderson for providing the photos!

Bienvenidos!
The New Paris fifth graders in Tim Haines' class held the annual Spanish Market. It was about the hustle: the students in Haines' class learned and experienced a mini economy in selling goods while the incoming classes from around the school were given $20 (play money) to purchase the actual commodities. From cans of Mello Yello to football cards, from braided bracelets to Reese Cups, everything was for sale.
Haines noted the students take 15 minutes every Friday to learn basic Spanish, and those simple nouns and verbs were encouraged to be part of the buy/sell atmosphere.

It'll be a night of chilllllll.
Fairfield's music department will be hosting a Jazz n' Java Night on Tuesday, May 23, starting at 7 p.m. in the Fairfield Jr/Sr High School cafeteria.
Entry fee is $5 (students and children under 4 are free).
The experience is a night of music, desserts and cafe beverages while featuring the Fairfield jazz band and vocalists.
Come for the coffee, stay for the tunes.
